✳ WHAT THIS SITE KEEPS
Privacy.
This site has no accounts, no forms, no advertising and no analytics service. What it keeps is a short server log, deleted after 7 days, added up into daily visitor counts.
What the server records
When a page has been shown, it sends one small request to our own server: the page’s address, whether it was loaded afresh or reached by a click within the site, and – if you came from another website – only that website’s name (for example google.com), or the campaign name if the link had one.
Our web server writes one line to a log for each request: the time, your IP address, the address requested, whether it was served, the page that linked to it (the referrer), the browser’s user-agent string, and the country the request came from as reported by our network provider.
What it is used for, and for how long
The IP address is used for one thing: counting how many different people visit the site in a day. An IP address together with a browser counts as one visitor per day. The user-agent string tells people apart from search engines and other automated traffic.
Once a day the log is added up into totals: how many visitors and page views the site had, which pages were read, which pages people arrived on, and whether they came from a search engine, another website or directly. Only these totals are kept, and they contain no IP addresses. They are not used to identify anyone, not combined with other data and not shared.
The log lines themselves, and the server’s error log, are deleted after 7 days. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing how many people use the guides.
Cloudflare
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which sits between your browser and our server to speed pages up and to block attacks. To do that, Cloudflare sees your IP address and passes it on to our server (see above), and it can set a short-lived security cookie when it needs to tell a person from automated traffic. Cloudflare’s own privacy policy covers how it handles that data.
Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google’s search results: which searches it is shown for and how often it is clicked. Google compiles that report from its own search data. It adds no script, cookie or tracking to this site.
What is stored in your browser
This site sets no cookies of its own. The one thing it can store on your device is a bookmark: pressing “Bookmark guide” keeps a note of that guide in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and pressing the button again removes it.
Other sites
The pages load no third-party scripts, fonts, maps, videos or advertising. Links to museums, transport operators and other sources take you to those sites, and their own privacy policies apply there.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, and object to its use. The only data we can hold about you are, for at most 7 days, lines in the server log; to find and delete them we would need your IP address and roughly when you visited. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
